About LeaAnn

From the classroom to the closing table

LeaAnn Taylor October 31, 2026 Agent

Before I sold homes, I taught high school English. People sometimes ask how that prepared me for real estate, and the honest answer is: more than I expected. Teaching is a job built on communication, preparation, and advocating for people who are counting on you. Those are the same three skills a buyer or seller needs most.

Communication is the job

In a classroom, you learn quickly that the same message does not land the same way for everyone. Some people want the big picture, some want every detail in writing, and some want to talk it through out loud. Real estate is exactly the same. A closing involves lenders, inspectors, title companies, and appraisers, and someone has to translate between all of them. That is my job.

Preparation beats surprises

Teachers plan lessons the way agents should plan transactions: backwards from the outcome. I know what has to happen in week one, in week three, and at the table, and I keep the timeline moving so nothing sneaks up on my clients. When a surprise does show up, and it will, the plan is already there to absorb it.

Advocacy with a backbone

The best teachers are the ones who fight for their students without making it personal. I bring that same energy to negotiations. I can be direct when it matters, stay calm when it gets tense, and always keep the conversation focused on what my client needs, not on winning an argument.

Why Wilmington

I have called Wilmington home since 2013. My husband and I are raising our teenage twins here, I serve on the board of the Clinton County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and I volunteer with Sleep in Heavenly Peace. This is not a market I visit. It is where I live, and the advice I give is the advice I would take myself.

If you are buying or selling in Wilmington, I would love to put the teacher's habits to work for you: listen first, prepare thoroughly, and communicate clearly, all the way to the closing table.
